God's Country {8.11.14}

Family! Hello from God's Country! I am officially a tri state missionary :) And I have only served in three areas (all in different states)!
It's great to finally have made it to Kentucky and I look forward to spending the rest of my mission here ;) WITH Sister Bowers because she is INCREDIBLE!

So, as you can tell, last week was transfers. It was hard to leave Eastgate, obviously, it had pretty much become my home ward, but I know this is exactly where I am supposed to be.
Here are a few details you're probably curious about:
--I'm serving in Hebron, Kentucky
--My companion is Sister Jasmyn Bowers from Wendle, Idaho. She is practically perfect in every way. I think one of our members described her best when they said she is like "3 scoops of ice cream!" :)
--We are Sister Training Leaders over 2 other sets of sisters... one of them being Sister Wight!!! (my baby who I trained in Kendallville)
--Our zone is the only zone in the mission that covers all 3 states
--Elder Jolley is our district leader (who Mandi knows!)
-- Kentucky is beautiful and I LOVE IT
Other random facts:
--We go to cross fit 3 times a week at a members house
--Josh Ryan Hutcherson (star of bridge to terabithia) lives just outside of our area.. we're definitely knocking on his door on an exchange
--Bro. Rhodus (in the bishopric in Eastgate) mom is in my ward!
-- Received a package my second day here with letters from most of you in it. You're so on top of things!! Made my day :)

What other questions do you have?? I don't even know what to tell you!
So, I'll tell you about my study this morning. I read the best ever talk by President Monson. You should all read it! He talked about learning from the past, preparing for the future, and living in the present. It was exactly what I needed to hear! Daydreaming of the past and longing for the future may provide comfort but will not take the place of living in the present. This is the day of our opportunity and we must grasp it! You pile up enough tomorrows and you'll find you've collected a lot of empty yesterdays. Isn't that so true?? It's so easy to do on a mission-- remember all of the wonderful things about your last area and day dream about going home when things are getting tough, but that is the easy way out and will only make for missed opportunities. Every day in your life is a special occasion. Don't delay or postpone anything that could bring laughter of joy into your life.
This was a great reminder for me this week to make the most of the short time I have left on my mission with the wonderful people of Kentucky. I would encourage each of you to examine your lives and make the same adjustments. Life is meant to be enjoyed, not just endured after all!

Miracle of the Week:
Meeting the Fox family. Coincidence? I think not. I learned SO much from them after talking for only an hour. A friend played a joke on them and referred them to us through Mormon.org but they were kind enough to let us into their home and talk with us about their beliefs, hopes, and dreams. I realized while we were there how blessed I am to be filling my days with people rather than things. I learn something from every person I talk to. It's all about perspective, like bro. Fox says. The best way to understand ourselves is to look at ourselves from someone else's perspective.

Awkward moment of the week:
Talking to a random person.. awkward break in the conversation.... "So, do you like plants?"
Oh goodness. I don't know what I will do with myself.

Well, I love you all dearly and I can't wait to receive letters from all of you this week. How exciting to send them to a new state, right?!
:)
xoxoxo
